Jamie Woon - Night Air
Night air has the strangest flavour
Space to breathe it, time to savour
Lovely soul/dubstep/chill track, co-produced by Burial. Between this and Burial’s remix of “Wayfaring Stranger” I can’t get enough of their collaborations!
Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo
Via girlfriday13th:
Now THIS is a Dubstep track!
I had a small mental explosion when I heard this being played at the restaurant last night. I’ve never heard it being played anywhere other than my own stereo before now.
I can’t explain why I love this song, but I get a warm fuzzy feeling whenever I hear it. It usually sticks in my head for the rest of the day and makes me want to drive down the coast to L.A.
I also like the Lil Wayne Vocal Remix, which you can get for free at Rcrdlbl.com : http://tinyurl.com/ybnxmq4
Clubroot - Solar Flares
Definitely a bit of Burial influence on this — particularly in the abstracted vocal samples — but if Burial is evocative of the dim London streets, then this track was brought forth from a hidden cave system kilometers below those streets.
Cavernous reverb and echo drenches everything except the beat, which keeps a nice, tight rhythm. The bass ebbs and swells, only leaving you a few fleeting moments to break the surface. If you can listen to this one on speakers with good bass response, I recommend it!
Clubroot - Solar Flares
Primal echoes weave around a melody dreaming in sound. There’s a hint of Burial-esque magic in here.
Tek-One - Broken String
Circuit-bent electronics and live drum kits making some fresh dubstep sounds. Broken String is their latest single, but do peer into their older material too!
Also, the music video for Broken String.
A dubstep mix retelling Jeff Wayne’s musical version of War of the Worlds, sampling the original narratives by Richard Burton, Phil Lynott and David Essex.
Fantastic work moving the feeling and mood along with the dubstep beats and great use of the original samples. Set aside an hour and enjoy this.
Burial - Archangel (Phaseone Remix) (via phaseonestl)
This remix didn’t really grab me at first — didn’t seem like much was going on. But after those first few seconds when the beat kicks in it becomes something great; taking the original and just giving it a bit of a twist.
Eleven Tigers - Stableface (via terradnb)
And here’s another Eleven Tigers post why not. This album is probably my favourite musical find of the last few months, easy. If you like your dubstep fresh out of the freezer, you’ll like this guy. Promise.
